love fashion?

I recommend checking out FashionAir,  a new style website, which differentiates itself with a lot of video content -- yesterday I watched a style profile with Julia Restoin Roitfeld, and a couple of great "7 days of style" videos. One of my favorite features is how products mentioned in the videos (or similar styles) pop up to the side for easy linking of things you like. It's still in Beta, so it can be a little confusing to navigate, but if you head over and sign up your email, they'll send you a password.
Hope you enjoy!

marion cotillard for dior

Today for the first time I saw this new Dior ad with Marion Cotillard, and I love it. Beautiful view, beautiful composition, everything. I especially like the "natural" look they gave her, since I'm only really used to seeing her all glammed up at the Oscars, or deep (in makeup) in character.

The best way that I've found to "get to know" her though was in the Oscars Roundtable discussion from last year that I just saw recently. It has all the nominated actors talking about their lives and their work, and seeing them all interacting together you can really get a sense of their personalities more than in interviews. Skip the long introduction and take a look below:

** Note: I realize this blog has been pretty much comatose for the past... well for a long time! I've just had a million other things to worry about. Thank you to all the readers who keep coming back and who have emailed me asking about this blog; I'll try to keep it up better. :)

"I didn't really know what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to become"

Diane von Furstenberg ad for American Express:

I'm not sure why I like this ad so much, I guess it's nice to see designers at work, and the way they blended images of water and leaves to show the inspiration for patterns. Of course I love Diane as well, I'm just starting to read her autobiography.

And they also re-created several iconic scenes from Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" for another ad:

so you think you can sing?

Both Agyness Deyn's and Scarlett Johansson's first music videos have just come out this week, to sort of mixed reactions. Of the two I think Agyness has a better voice, perhaps she just hasn't rehearsed enough and the Winehouse eye makeup is a bit puzzling. I can see how Scarlett was trying to sing in the style of Tom Waits as it is a cover of his song, but it falls a bit short somehow. Hopefully the next will be better!

Scarlett Johansson: "Falling Down"

And my favorite model collaboration, Primal Scream featuring Kate Moss: "Some Velvet Morning"
