french glamour

I love these pictures which are from French Glamour magazine, styled by Carine Roitfeld herself. These outfits are comprised of such simple elements, but put together in such a classic, stylish way, with fantastic proportions. I love the use of white and the combination of button-up shirts with thin scarves.

eccentric glamour

"Betty controls our behavior through her own brand of snobbery. Her technique is quite clever. She established early on in our lives that there were only two types of people in the world. We were free to join either group.
There were the losers who pick their noses, hurl abuse at passers-by, and tread dog poo into the house. These individuals, according to Betty, 'have no bloody savoir faire.' These people will spend their lives eating greasy fish and chips and working in factories. They contribute nothing to the world: 'They take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide.'
And then there are the fabulous people, the life enhancers, people who, even if they work in the same factories, always somehow manage to look great, smell great, and never arrive at other people's houses empty-handed. These people are committed to the concept of gracious living. These are our people."

Simon Doonan, on his mother's perspective, in his new (fabulous) book, Eccentric Glamour.

I love this new ad campaign for Pucci, shot by Juergen Teller and featuring Mariacarla Boscono. Doesn't she look very Jackie O?

Pucci is one of my favorite designers, it's only unfortunate that most of their clothing isn't very wearable on a daily basis. But it's great fantasy clothing.

legs for days

I generally don't like Michael Kors' style, it's very predictable, but at the mall I walked past his store today and both the (gorgeous) salesgirls were wearing this look -- black mini caftan dresses with skyhigh stilettos, and tons of perfectly tanned leg in the middle. It seems like their dresses had even shorter hems than this one, which is embellished with beads around the neckline and goes for about $150 over at michaelkors.com. It looked incredibly chic, and is perfectly easy for summer.

your style: fashion to decor

I don't usually read Domino Magazine, but I was flipping through it recently and they had a really cute feature that I thought was clever. Basically, Outfit to Room matches personal style to interior design styles and gives ideas for streamlining the two. I really liked the "western" boho outfit (above) and the way they matched it with a mix of sleek modern and exotic decor. Below, grecian draped dresses from Phillip Lim become a refined, elegant living room. Lots of adorable and functional ideas!

very cute

Miu Miu organza blouse/dress, with a Dries Van Noten jacket. I'm loving textured white garments this summer, as well as Gustav-Klimt-esque sequins and colors, and this outfit combines them both perfectly. Crisp and decadent at the same time. Image scan from fashionista.

sienna miller and keira knightley are my new favorite hollywood girl-couple

Two of my favorite young actresses, and so adorable together.

Keira is the most beautiful woman in the world. We totally bonded on the movie and it was so amazing to find a girlfriend in the business!” --Sienna

some recent favorites from "style and the city"

I've been posting mostly street style recently, I hope you all enjoy it!

Ah, to have such chic friends to hit the fashion shows with!

Young parisian girls: jeans, light breezy blouses and dresses, and lots of soft brown waves.

the best ensemble for biking in paris

from Cafe Mode, at Chanel Couture this week.

the polished boho look, in real life

Frida Giannini's Fall collection for Gucci seemed to say what has been said a million times: boho is coming back, again. I have seen it popping up here are there, but this time around, post-Sienna Miller boho phase, it seems to be a much more polished look. To keep it from going over the top, it seems like the best way to wear it is with minimalist shoes, like nice flip-flops, and modern accessories.
